Electronic Resources Manager

Description

The Electronic Resources Manager will join our national team, working under the Director of Research Services. Responsibilities include managing all aspects of electronic resources and technical services for the firm, supervising library technical services staff, and assistance with administrative and data needs including budget management and reporting. The Electronic Resources Manager will manage the firm’s electronic resource management (ERM) solutions, cataloging needs, library invoice processing, and assist with team knowledge management. This role requires candidates to have a progressive approach to Library and Information Science, demonstrate initiative and work as part of a collaborative team on firm-wide issues and projects.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervise Library Technical Services Specialist
  • Meet regularly with technical services staff to discuss and resolve workload and technical issues, project status, new programs, work schedules and job demands, customer services issues and attorney needs
  • Support and advocate for technical services staff, including directing performance improvements and team development
  • Work as part of the Research Services team to provide technical and administrative support on daily research requests in Quest tracking system; especially handling time-sensitive issues including loss of access to databases, database errors, time-sensitive credential or access requests, etc.
  • Administers and leads the firm-wide implementation of electronic resources including assisting with client matter validation needs
  • Manage firm electronic resource management (ERM) solutions including CORAL and Onelog, keeping resource information current
  • Manage the provision of administrative support for electronic and print subscriptions, working with Library Technical Services specialist to ensure all user lists, desk book lists, and publication routing lists are maintained
  • Manage cataloging needs, working with the Library Technical Services Specialist and cataloging experts to ensure MARC records remain updated in KOHA open source library system
  • Develop regular reports related to catalog activity for the Director of Research Services and Research Services team, as well as ad-hoc reports as needed
  • Manage technical services support, working with the Library Technical Services Specialist to ensure all user license requests and database credential requests are addressed
  • Manage processing and coding of invoices, working with the Library Technical Services Specialist to answer any questions and ensure invoices are processed in a timely manner
  • Assist with maintaining team training material including technical or administrative updates to the Research Manager Training Manual
  • Manage the development of a technical services training manual covering the duties of the Electronic Resources Manager and Library Technical Services Specialist
  • Review existing team policies, solicit feedback, and implement improvements
  • Coordinate new attorney resource usage statistics for use with attorney orientation follow-up material
  • Assist Director of Research Services with administrative needs and project management as needed
  • Assist with preparation of annual Research Services budget
  • Assist with monthly reporting of Research Services budget, team billing and collection statistics, and other team statistics as needed
  • Assist with team knowledge management needs, including maintenance of Budgets, Contracts, and Reporting folders in iManage
  • Special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school
  • 3-5 years of legal research or technical services experience required, preferably in a law firm setting
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to adapt and apply new technologies and workflows
  • Commitment to strong service values with an ability to exhibit sound professional judgment, discretion and diplomacy
  • Basic troubleshooting skills with common IT issues involving access to databases and online content
